One of the most powerful documentaries ever made. Required watching. I am very happy to see Kanopy providing it here. I hope it will be available in perpetuity. I want to be able to show it to my kids... and grandkids.

This movie should be viewed by all Blacks in this country, especially those 40 years and younger. Too many things are taken for granted these days and minds are oblivious to past events, including the present.

"I Am Not Your Negro" beautifully underscores the past and present day plight of Blacks in America while exposing the creative genius, diversity, and greatness that exists within the Black community. A true masterpiece.

Phenomenal!!!! It's interesting how Baldwin's words are like prophecy. The racial struggle and ignorance are still relevant today. What are going to do as a country to make the change?

This film is more relevant than ever in Trump's America. In the archival footage, I keep expecting to see a young Jeff Sessions beating up black people. I mean, nobody would be surprised, amirite?

I definitley appreciate the style of this documentary , which was to use lots of movie clips along with clips from Malcolm X , MLK, and James ...Read more

Question of enlightenment: how would you consider the history you're living through today coherent or more simply linear?

"the history I'm living through today" , I would say that the history that's being lived through today is an echo of many past events. There are struggles of ideology, politics, and cults (religions). A lot of changes are occurring as a result of technology, and the internet.

History is not coherent. It's a bloody, suffering, tangled mess of events. I think this perfectly represents the history it is showing.

An incredible film -- actually, a MASTERPIECE. I am left utterly speechless not only because of its timeliness, but also for the tragic reality that filmmaker Raoul Peck so purposefully highlights in his intricate weaving of America's history, both past and present. I hope they show this ...Read more
