No misgivings with the movie; it was entertaining, but the comments here leave a lot to be desired: so many critics with only criticism being their talent offering; unfortunately.

Plodding. Unfunny. It reminded me of several other "small business owner vs the Corporate Giant" movies,--movies that I liked better. The dead eyes of the daughter just left me cold. I couldn't engage with her as an actress. Very liberal slant. Just not a great film.

What a sweet, lovely movie. Maybe because I miss my daughter who’s far away now.

What a surprise, I did not expect it to be as good as it was. And a real New York movie.

hits all the basic plot points, and only unique part is the dynamics of father/daughter in their band. not a bad movie at all, i enjoyed it

Cute, slow, you keep waiting for the pace to take off, but it never happens... Boring.

completely enjoyable film and where do you find a dad like Nick?

Indeed, it is a cliched story, and the music wasn't as arousing as other music in similar films. Nevertheless, it's still a wonderful story. Also, Ted Danson was a pleasant surprise.

Oh my goodness! Watch this movie. Nick Offerman is wonderful. HIs chemistry with Kiersey Clemons is so pure. My boyfriend and I loved it.

Not quite sure why, but I want to give this a sixth star. Just a nice approachable story with a nice soundtrack.

Sensitively and honestly portrayed, with an acute sense of place. Well worth watching.

Engaging low key movie. A glimpse into the life of others and the good and the bad, how to overcome tragedy. A positive film.

I so enjoyed this movie. Yeah, the happy ending was predictable but the relationships were portrayed with love and the music was delightful.

magnificent! world, hear this loud and clear "men can be good fathers" who work hard to connect with their children and who teach them about love, we need more movies like this

I understand and respect what you're saying, however it's a movie. Real life brings about very real circumstances. I don't think people should be looking toward actors or the roles they portray for mentoring and modeling in their lives. They need REAL LIFE mentors and models, and should be ...Read more

The characters felt authentic and gave me the feeling of being right there with them. Nothing heavy-handed or implausible about the plot, just good people finding their way through life together, which is the stuff of real life. Heartfelt and lovable film we're glad we watched!

Great movie. It had a Jim Carney feel to it. The only thing I wish it had were original songs. There were only 3, but they were amazing.

A charming and easy to digest film that is perfect for unwinding to, complete with a lovely cast, homey location, and a warm and fuzzy soundtrack. Bonus points for having Ted Danson in a bartender role.

It was okay. I liked the actors but am already tired of the fetishism of Brooklyn I keep seeing in movies now. Everyone knows it's been there all along, right? But all of the actors did a good job.

Loved it. For me, the heart hit me right at the beginning and didn't stop all the way through.

this movie is so simple, yet beautiful. it feels like the artsy queer girl's version of Ladybird, and that's wonderful!

You'll need a Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, or Chromecast. Each of those has a Kanopy app you'll have to download. The first 3 are stand alone devices that connect to your TV. The Chromecast connects your phone to your TV.

So fr*cking charming. When they were playing the music is when I realized why I wanted to watch it inthe first place. Reminds me of so many great afternoons I had back in Sante Fe, not giving in to peer pressure. Just being us. Just listenign to our hearts. It's different today. BUt it's ...Read more

Loved this sweet and smart film. Great acting and story line and music too! I like films about relationships that have endings that don't make me regret watching them. I'd watch this film again!

One of my favorites of 2018! Loved the music and the father-daughter relationship. Also, Ron Swanson.

Eeegads...zzzzzzz. Boring, cliche characters. Too much boring, cliche Brooklyn. Too much boring, cliche hipster. Too much... all of it. And the mom's cause for departure? Sigh. One big Brooklyn cliche. Which is really quite boring, if I haven't mentioned that already.

The white bike tell you what happened to the mother. Watch again and pay attention.

Ehhhh, thanks, Nanc, but I know exactly what the white bike symbolises, that's why I said it was another Brooklyn hipster cliche, though the white bike is a symbol throughout the U.S., yes, I know. I'd rather be repeatedly punched in the groin by a shrieking 3 year old than watch this again. ...Read more

This was a super charming film about the bonds of family and friendship, and art/music's power of expression -- a definite feel-good film in the same vein as those of John Carney (ONCE, BEGIN AGAIN, SING STREET), with great performances! :)

Agree. I really enjoyed this one--start to finish. I can see how some other reviewers found it too precious but it didn't strike me that way.

Very sweet film. Meaningful to me since I worked in Red Hook for about two years. Sunny's, Baked, Pioneer Works, Hope and Anchor, and Van Brunt St. were my old haunts. Miss it very, very much.
